After three days of inspections, two test flights, rectification of findings and document review we have today afternoon (Thursday 29th September 2011) taken delivery of E190 aircraft registered as 5Y-KYS. Kenya Airways is proud to take delivery of the fourth E190 Advanced Range (AR) aircraft from Embraer’s factory in San Jose Dos Campos, Brazil. The aircraft will join our existing fleet of Embraer 170/190s, bringing the total E-Jet fleet size to nine aircraft. The aircraft has been designated 5Y-KYS.
The aircraft arrives in Nairobi tomorrow Saturday at 2030hrs. Once here, the aircraft will be on ground to allow preparations for it to commence commercial service. The Embraer 190 is a state-of-the-art regional jet incorporating the latest avionics and a full in-seat IFE system. It will bring to our fleet an even higher level of technological advancement, lower maintenance and operational costs. It will afford our passengers excellent cabin comfort in a true dual-class configuration (12 business class, 84 Economy seats). Congratulations to Kenya Airways for yet another aircraft acquisition.
